Welcome to the Seapower group

After many years of research and development the technology of Seapower has now reached the point of going into operation and marketing. That our technology is working means for us that both technology and economy are optimal co-operating. A whole world is wishing green energy from renewable sources of energy. Our object is to provide such energy!

Short History

  • 1987 Sea Power International AB (publ) started it's business as a development company with an object to develop a patented method of extraction of uranium out of sea water. The idea was initiated by MSc Göran Lagström. A public offer made it possible to build a pilot plant at the Masa Shipyard in Finland. This pilot plant was tested outside the swedish west coast in 1991 during eight months during autumn, winter and spring periods.

This test was successful and accomplished the made expectations.

The idea of in this way using a floating "pool", fill it by leading the sea waves
uphill an inclined plane and use the whole plant as a pump with enormous
capacity, lead to the idea to lead back the water to the ocean through a turbine and in that way produce electric energy.

  • 1999 the company closed a SRO 3 contract with Scottish & Southern Energy plc, a 15 years contract to deliver approx 5 GWh/year.

  • 2000 the company strechted out to include extraction of energy from tides and other streaming water. The development of a current turbine started with a scaled down test, after that with a field test in minor scale on the Shetland Islands, after that a scientific assessment of the characteristics of the turbine at the ship design and research center, Gdansk, Poland and after that a full-scale test anew on Shetland Islands. The results from these tests confirmed that the turbine now is ready to be marketed as a realistic and economic option.

Our Customer

A reliable and flexible energy production at low costs may provide many needs at many places.

  • Supply to the electricity grid.

The customers are national and local electricity suppliers who on their part deliver to their consumers. direct delivery to individual, large consumers may also be possible at isolated places.

  • Supply to a large number of indiviual needs, often at large distances to the
network. typical customers are among others fish-farms, schools and similar
public spaces, dwelling units and industries.

To parties concerned when environmentally friendly energy at low cost is of decisive importance.

  • Production of hydrogen gas.
  • Desalination of sea water into potable water or into water used for irrigation within agriculture and other cultivations.
  • Recharging of batteries for industrial needs.

The advantages with sea power plants are that they can supply electricity to the overland network or to the land-based production units, but also perform the functions of stand alone production units. such an example is the production of hydrogen gas with all the necessary equipment on board a floating power plant.

Vision

  • Our group of companies has developed products that use the enormous resourses within the tidal streams, other streaming water and ocean waves in order to produce electricity in a environmental friendly and persevering way. Our EXIM™ Tide and Current Turbine is a product with proven capacity as well in tests as in full-scale testing out.

  • If you can produce environmentally friendly electric energy at low cost and at proper places it is not far away to meet the need of producing hydrogen gas for fuel cells for propulsion of vehicles, for hospital and industrial needs and for reserve power for large power plants as well as desalination of sea water, all areas of a very large importance and potential.

  • Our object is to become one of the companies carrying us into an era of energy-
saving and innovation. It must be obvious to each one that the enormous resourses of nature possible to utilize in a environmentally friendly way can't be left unutilized.

We wouldn't be able to do this on our own.

We therefore welcome you to participate in our efforts to become a group of companies to count on in this expansive new energy market.

"The world's seas and rivers are here and provide hope for the future"
